Matariki

We read the story 'Seven kites of Matariki' and made our own kites. We decorated them with stickers and had heaps of fun flying them on the playground! 

Forces, Floating and Flying!

We have been learning about forces in Science this term. We learnt that gravity keeps us on the ground and planes need thrust and lift to fly in the air. We tried several different experiments to demonstrate air resistance, air pressure, thrust and resistance - it was lots of fun! 

Samoan Language week

We love celebrating our different cultures in Room 11 and this week we teamed up with our buddies in Room 6 to learn a Samoan song. We were able to teach our buddies sign language for the song so we were all very cleverly speaking two languages at the same time!! We enjoyed making butterflies to wave during the chorus of our song. 

Football training

We have been developing our football skills this term. We have learnt to keep the ball close to our feet, dribble a short distance, pass and shoot into the goal posts. We put these skills to the test at the local mainstream school tournament where we participated in a skills session and played some modified games with other Sommerville Satellites. We loved wearing the Tamaki Primary Sports uniform and cheering on our mainstream buddies when we weren't playing our games!
