Manaiakalani Film festival 2019

We love digging and planting in our class garden but, there are never any birds in there. We made a plan to fix that. We built our own bird boxes in woodwork so we could bring birds to the garden.
The bird boxes were such a huge success!! We have seen heaps of different birds in our garden now :) 

Dentist Adventures!

Last week, we went to Point England to visit the dentist. We waited patiently in the waiting room to be called and when it was our turn, we sat on the 'rocket' chair and opened our mouths wide! We were given some fun sunglasses to wear as the light was quite bright.  Some of us even had to have x-rays which is a photograph of our teeth. The dentists were very happy with us because we brush twice a day! 

Celebrating Diwali!

Today Room 11 and 12 celebrated Diwali! We had lots of fun dressing up in traditional clothing, making rangoli patterns and reading stories about Diwali. We also tried some traditional food and enjoyed smelling some spices. A very colourful day! 

Tongan Language Week

We have been learning lots of Tongan in our class to celebrate Tongan Language week! We learnt to say bird house, bird and garden and the colours so we could present our woodwork project in assembly. We also read 'Spotted Butterfly' in Tongan and English so we could practice our colours! And, we used Tongan colours to do our fractions this morning!

 

Netball

We have been practicing our netball skills all term and last week we competed in the local school competition. We know how to do a chest pass, bounce pass and we worked really hard on keeping our feet still or pivoting one foot! We had lots of fun at the tournament!

   

Father's Day

We had a breakfast for the special men in our lives last week. The students wrote simile poems about their Dad's, made a card and showed them a video of a secret message we made using Bee Bot!
